Trump administration ramps up plans for ethnic cleansing in Gaza

NBC News is reporting a new "plan" to ethnically cleanse the Gaza Strip of "up to 1 million Palestinians" that's being worked out inside the Trump administration.

The plan is under serious enough consideration that the administration has discussed it with Libya’s leadership, two people with direct knowledge of the plans and a former U.S. official said.

In exchange for the resettling of Palestinians, the administration would potentially release to Libya billions of dollars of funds that the U.S. froze more than a decade ago, those three people said.

No final agreement has been reached, and Israel has been kept informed of the administration’s discussions, the same three sources said.

Libya remains in the midst of an ongoing civil war, and it is unclear which of the two factions currently challenging the other for power is supposedly considering the proposal—presumably, whichever side wants those "billions of dollars" the U.S. government might dangle in exchange. It's also unclear how the Trump regime expects to convince "up to 1 million" Palestinians to abandon Gaza to be trafficked into a war zone in which their human rights will be just as disposable and in which they will presumably give up all rights to self-government to instead abide by the edicts of their new hosts—whoever that turns out to be.

As a plan, it appears to be insane.

I don't expect this "plan" is ever going to happen, because Gaza residents would have to be rounded up and shoved onto planes by force and because this new Libyan Solution appears to be a foreign concentration camp, period. It feels like another pipe dream proposed by Some Idiot seeking avenues to implement convicted felon Donald Trump's proposed ethnic cleansing of Gaza so that an American-backed "resort" could be constructed on the vacated land.

Would U.S. troops provide security to the new Libyan camps, or would they be left to rot inside Libyan war zones? The food would come from where? The infrastructure for 1 million refugees?

No, the summary version is that this plan is insane and it's difficult to imagine any implementation of it that would not constitute, of itself, another colossal war crime.

That does not mean the Trump administration is not stupid enough to further pursue it, mind you. Trump is a dementia-addled habitual criminal whose brain can only think in real estate terms and who appears to be truly taken by the notion of taking on Israel's attempts at ethnic cleansing and dumping the project instead on the U.S. military. I'm sure he and his five closest idiot allies are all for the idea.

But it may be one of the few ideas so stupid that it finally causes the rest of his White House to stuff him in a sack and cart him off to a maximum security retirement home. Surely, even this Republican Party can envision what the United States would face if it became the prime implementer of the plan to purge Gaza of one million Palestinian civilians. Surely, even this Republican Party understands the ramifications of that.
