America's dad Tim Walz gets pranked by his kids during interview at DNC in moment that's gone viral

1 min read

Your father has just won a ceremonial vote for the vice-presidential nomination on the opening day of the Democratic National Convention.

So what do Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s children —Hope, 23, and Gus, 17 — do when their father is being interviewed on national television in the VIP box?

In a totally relatable moment, they pranked him by putting bunny ears over his head without him knowing. Walz’s wife Gwen was sitting by his side.

That moment was shared by a viewer in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that has gone viral with more than 6 million views by midday Tuesday.

The post was captioned: "Tim Walz’s kids doing bunny ears behind him while he’s on national TV.”

And how did Walz respond to being pranked? He reposted the clip on X and added this comment: “My kids keep me humble.” That post has also gone viral with nearly 4 million views.

Both Parade and Huffpost were among the news outlets which wrote about Walz being pranked by his kids and how the short clip went viral.

it seems that viewers appreciated this totally relatable, fun and normal Walz family moment. And it’s just another example of why Vice President Kamala Harris made such a good choice in making the Minnesota governor her running mate.

Here are some of the reactions from users on X:

— "Keep it up, nice to have a human being that can actually relate with the majority of the country in the white house. See you soon."

— "You and your family bring light to our country again. Thank you Sir."

— "You're indeed a family man. America's dad for sure."

— “It’s great seeing laughing & fun, vs people being repressed & miserable.”

— "We’re reaching levels of wholesomeness never thought possible.”

— “I like VPs who raised kids that give him bunny ears at his party’s national convention.”

Of course, we already knew about Walz family values from videos that he’s previously shared, particularly featuring his daughter Hope.

During the pandemic, the Walz family launched a state book club by presenting their choices.

And here’s father and daughter introducing Minnesotans to the state’s new hands-free driving law.
