Happy (?) Labor Day

I thought I hadn't had the energy to write a real Labor Day post, but then my fine editors over at JSTOR Daily took a piece I submitted a few weeks ago and ran it today, so thanks to them I can direct you to Moral economy and the causes of wage inequality, a write-up of 2011 research by sociologists Bruce Western and Jake Rosenfeld.

Meanwhile, at The American Prospect, Harold Meyerson sums up what workers are facing: Trump celebrates Labor Day as the most anti-union president ever.

All we can do is keep fighting in the face of authoritarian consolidation. It's true for labor as for LGBTQ people as for immigrants as for people of color as for women. And labor's tradition of solidarity is the best answer we have to this onslaught.
